house hunt

February 5, 2010

with Evan now gainfully employed at Sq1 bank, we are excited to begin looking for a new house to call home.  hold up, travi, don’t you already own enough of these???  well this may be true, but only if you’re ignoring the wisdom of the old adage “third time’s a charm”.  which we are clearly not on so many levels.  almac?  anyways, we’ve got our eye on a little neighborhood close to downtown durham.  here’s a link to the fun google map i created (i have the day off work… can you tell?) to show the neighborhood and surrounding exciting features.  no one can understand where this street is when i talk about it, so this might help.  if we land a house in the neighborhood it will mean renovations, so get excited about some more travi before and afters!!

What do you get with 5 rolls of Undeveloped Film??

January 12, 2010

A BLAST FROM THE PAST

Kelly and I took some film, that we have been carting around with us through several moves, to be developed.  Literally some of this film is multiple years old.  With time the quality was not great but the pictures captured some good times, including Honeymoon in Hawaii,  trips to Mexico and Europe, Christmas tree cutting, and home renovations.  Enjoy some relics.

Hawaii, on our Honeymoon.

Christmas tree cutting in VA.

Alaska vacation to visit Lisa and Chip.

Windy Gap with College Life.

Curtis and Katie in Italy, in front our hotel on Lake Como.

Ah, Venice.

Eating crab in Alaska.

Refinishing the hardwoods in Knoxville.

What a trip down memory lane.

Changing of the Guard

January 9, 2010

So we got a Digital SLR camera for Christmas and we broke it out for the first time today.  I took this pictures with our old digital camera because I thought the progession of camera technology was interesting.  Kelly and I each brought a 35mm into the marriage and now it will be replaced by the new digi.  The technology may be new but they all look the same to me.

BEYU Caffe

January 8, 2010

Kelly has been getting coffee at this new place downtown and I got a chance to go last night.  I thought the atmosphere was refreshing, not too bar not too coffee shop, and they had an outstanding jazz trio.  Not that I know anything about jazz but I enjoyed it.  Definitely going back.

Snow Days

December 18, 2009

We are enjoying Colorado, and the change in pace it affords.  We have been skiing, eating and hitting up some of our favorite spots. What more could you want in life?? (Well maybe a job??)

The first day we rode Copper Mountain.

Second day we rode Monarch. (The best ski resort in Colorado)

Just in case you were wondering it is cold, very cold. Kelly is somewhere in that jacket.

Fun times skiing.

Christmas Ideas = Ponoko

December 6, 2009

Read an article about this company earlier in the year and thought that if anyone out there was looking for a cool present for someone on your list, you might be able to find something here.  Ponoko is a company that custom manufactures individual’s designs.  Long story short, if you can make something out of flat shapes, you can upload a design and Ponoko has a laser cutter that will cut it out of the material of your choice and mail it to you.  If you don’t have an idea you can buy something someone else has already designed.  Seriously you  should check it out.

Rhinoceros (6mm Commercial EPS)Rhino Toy that they sell.  Pretty Cool Huh??

Winter Wonderland

December 5, 2009

Woke up this morning in Knoxville to find a blanket of snow outside.  Seems like it has not snowed in a long time.  It is always fun to wake up with snow on the ground.

Glitch

December 5, 2009

So as many of you know we are participating in a challenge that Miles Travis initiated.  We are trying to post every day in December.  But we have found a GLITCH!!  If you carefully follow the challenge you might think that we have already lost because there is no post on our blog for December 1.  But we did post on the 1st and on the 4th but the blog dated them weird.  So we have found the Glitch.  The time stamp on the blog was set to the UTC time zone.  So now we have it set back to UTC -5 and we should be good to go from here.  We are still in it! One post a day!
