So, an explanation for the title, if Christmas is a party, then the After Christmas Sales are the After Party. I say this mainly because of Evan’s and my recent trip to Walgreen’s. The Walgreen’s by our house always has Christmas stuff on sale after Christmas, and we had been watching the advertisements for Christmas goodies 25% off, then 50% off… when it hit 75% off, we decided to check out the scene. We popped into Walgreen’s, where we were initially disappointed with the array of 75% off Christmas Cards. We don’t even send out Christmas cards. But then we turned the corner and found a whole Christmas aisle… 75% off. I picked out a conservative 3 rolls of wrapping paper and considered my shopping finished. But Evan, in true Evan fashion, likes to bulk up in excess when things are on sale. Ten minutes later, I was juggling 5 rolls of wrapping paper, 5 bags of Christmas bows, and 15 packages of 25 count Christmas tags. Evan had picked up an entire case of Christmas lights, which totaled 1200 lights! We headed to the cash register where we were promptly laughed at by the two other people in line… but we got the final laugh when the total bill came to a mere $16 dollars!!! 1200 lights, 5 rolls of wrapping paper, 150 bows, and 315 gift tags. We left feeling like we had robbed the store. The rolls of wrapping paper were only 49 cent per roll. So, to sum, I’m encouraging everyone to visit your local Walgreen’s before the After Christmas Party ends!
