Hmm. I thought I’d better make this post a good one since it’s been a while, and I was trying to make a philosophical analysis of our latest home project (installing a new door) and how it corresponds to January, the month of entry into the new year. Fitting, right? That’s really about all I have to say about it, so without further ado, below are pictures from our latest project. You might be thinking, “I thought you were working on the bathroom? Where are those pictures?” and you would be right. We are working on the bathroom, albeit still slowly, so those pictures will be forthcoming. We do not claim to be strong finishers, just enthusiastic beginners. The door was a pretty good one day project, and we did finish it to the extent that we do not have a gaping hole in the front of our house, but eventually it’ll be painted and touched up, so we can’t quite call it completely finished. Regardless, we’re pleased with the results. Three cheers for curb appeal.
Below is the original. It’s hard to see, but it was just a flat teal door with an ugly screen door and large piece of wavy (groovy) glass to the right side.

The door was really heavy, but fit fairly well in the hole.

We had the door mostly in, but what home project is complete without a mid-project trip to Home Depot? So off we went, with a semi-locked up house, to get a little more wood to frame the door in.

It’s in…

And it works! (I am taking the “cheesy ta-da” pictures these days because the last time Evan was in one, when we premiered the painted living room, it ended up on my family’s Christmas letter.)
